ROAD FROM THE COLONY TO THE TOP
This route is also very popular for climbing to the top of Montgó. Although it's a bit long, it's more difficult than the one that climbs via the Javea shooting range. If you decide to take this route, I recommend wearing hiking boots and plenty of water.
It begins next to the Pare Pere hermitage. When you reach the first fork, you have to head towards Racó del Bou (Bull's Corner in Valencian). Here you can see how the path begins to gain in slope between pines and bushes. Once you reach the next fork, you head towards the summit. From this point on, what I call the "party" begins. You will encounter some very steep slopes, with the inconvenience of many loose stones. More than once, you will find yourself needing to use your hands to help yourself to continue.
Fortunately, not all of the trail is like this... higher up, we come across another sign pointing us towards the summit. Here, you begin walking along the ridge of the mountain. A little further on, you'll see a sign indicating the direction to the Denia Creueta. If you continue straight ahead, you'll reach the summit of Montgó.
